Direct Billing for Ontario Therapy
I’m now offering direct billing to many insurance companies!
I am now able to provide direct billing for therapy with some health insurance plans.
If you have health insurance, here are the steps to check and see if this applies to you.
Check the list below to see if your health insurance qualifies for direct billing.
Contact your health insurance directly and ask them if your policy covers psychotherapy.
*Some insurance plans have a cap on how much they reimburse per session, or they may require a minimum copay. It is also helpful to know if you have a cap on coverage per year, so we can plan accordingly when your coverage is up. Make sure to ask so we can know what to expect.
If you qualify, great! Reach out to me and let me know. I’ll send you a consent form that allows me to bill directly. During our next appointment, make sure to have your insurance coverage information ready. We will go over the process together in case you have any questions.
Different types of direct billing:
Every insurance company has their own policies when it comes to direct billing.
Some allow for therapists/practitioners to bill directly to the insurance company on behalf of their clients, and the payment for service will go directly to the provider.
Other insurance companies allow for therapists/practitioners to bill directly on behalf of their clients, but the payment reimbursement goes directly to the client. If this is the case for you, that means you will still have to pay for your session up front, and receive your reimbursement later from your insurance company.
Why your health insurance may not allow for psychotherapy/direct billing:
Every insurance company, and every insurance plan, is different. Not all health insurance companies/health insurance plans cover psychotherapists. Additionally, not all health insurance companies allow for psychotherapists to bill directly. Check with your health insurance provider directly to verify if you are covered.
